Is it a crossover for ski paddlers?

RACE Hawaii has developed a high tech double bladed standup paddle to be produced and promoted as an exercise tool.

"This system provides comfort and power to double bladed paddling. It's light and easy to use."

No doubt it would be a good workout but so is shovelling a tonne of horse sh1t.
It has nothing to do with Sup style of paddling.
But wait, there's more.

^^^^^^^^^^ Funny you should mention that doggie, because YES you do get steak knives with the Power Glider. And not just any steak knives doggie but a Kings collection of - wait for it - stainless steel, super sharp steak knives with a lifetime warranty. So if you feel like commiting hurri curri after the hummiliation of using the Power Glider you've got it covered. But wait there's more...

i've seen half assed atempts at this, but this looks far superior. the paddlers look balanced and they are rolling their bodies and arms in a far more natural rhythm then the single one sided motion that your body really doesn't like.

i could see this being picked up by long distance paddlers.

it's shame some sup pers can't show the tolerance they expect from others

You mentioned this is "far superior" then the "half assed attempts" you have seen in the past. Raising the bar a touch high are we ?
I don't expect any tolerance.

haha, do your home work, look at some of the attempts by guys trying to use kayak paddles etc, then look at that vid again

ok, you mightn't expect tolerance

gee, some of you guys are aping the rabid crew in the sb room when they 'talk' about sups

bit precious boys, stop dumping down like your the owners of sup or something

You're right Lacey the Power Glide is a huge improvement on that bloke sitting on the rubber block with a ski paddle last year. Sounds like you got shares in it lacey.

If you were going to make a double ended paddle you would use more efficient nordic wing blades (called propellers in Australia) old style flats were passed over back in 86 but in SUP and outrigger you need to use the same blade on both sides so they live on !

Just watched that stupid vid again.. Double the workout they say.. I'd agree with that... You could triple the workout by jumping up and down on he board as you paddle..

These paddles (oars) would have to be more than 12' long.. and just when our paddles were getting super light who would want to paddle with something so heavy?

What a joke and total waste of time and money... Someone's going to loose a lot of money on this idea..

My biggest concern about this is that contraption will make SUP look totally rediculous.. and just when people were starting to accept it as something cool..

Not only that DJ when I flat water paddle I still like to move the opposite foot a bit forward to the side I am paddling on I dont think it would work with the "windmill action of the power glide.

Imagine on those long one sided paddles due to side winds.. You'd be flapping and waving that second blade constantly though the air above your head doing nothing except making it soooo much harder to paddle.. With the extra wind on the blade way up in the air.. and the extra weight of the roman rings.. it's gunna be a killer workout on your arms that's for sure.. .. Even without the side wind thing happening any time you want to do a turn that extra blade flapping around in the air above you is going to take any advantage away that you might get from stand up kayaking on your SUP board.. .. I'm still shaking my head in disbelief that this went into production.. I've seen the prototypes and the early stages of this thing years ago and I thought for sure they had caned the whole idea.

haha, on a dw er you probably wouldn't even need to paddle. you could angle the paddle into the wind and use it as a steering wheel

the more ideas for sup the better
