The polls are open! Votes are now being accepted for the First Annual SUP Awards. Visit SUPAwards.com/vote to read each nominated athlete's bios and watch videos from their paddling adventures, then pick your Top 3 Male and Female Paddlers in the sport or copy the link below.
www.mensjournal.com/

Australia have 3 paddlers nominated. Those being Travis Grant and Jamie Mitchell in the men and Shakira Westdorp in the womens category. Lets get behind the Aussies and support them as we are now becoming a recognised force in the world of SUP.

most of those guys are pretty handy on a surf sup as well as a racing SUP.

I dont see anythig to serious in this whole thing and everything has to start somewhere!!!

Mate, click on the link supplied on the original post. You will see the 21 male nominees.
This is elite company. There are 2 aussies amongst them - Jamie Mitchell & Travis Grant.
Are you telling me these blokes don't justify their nomination ???
Why do you come onto a forum of a sport and bag 2 blokes that have achieved so much in that sport ?

Where's Laird?

I thought the exact same thing. I maybe mistaken, but Lairds seems like the silent achiever who doesn't feel the need to be noted. He makes gets his own stoke from what he personally achieves.

Good to see some big names up there, but I think their missing a few more that have made the sport what it is to. What about little Rigs, EJ, Blaine, Muir, the list is endless. There is some crew I didn't even know existed. Must be big names in the Northern Hemisphere.

not that any one cares but:
I personally dont have a problem with SUP crew that go through the competition path to gain the "ranking" of number one - long paddle, waves, etc - good luck to them and its obvious most put in a lot of hard work.

A web based pole for the best SUP'r its like cleo bachelor of the month or the recent online most beautiful model (won by a 100+kilo male) poll. It is based around who can rustle up the most people to vote In the end it adds nothing to the sport - just promo for the mag poll

I have the same feelings towards any sport

90% of us just sup surf sail etc cause we like it and go in local comps for the social aspects and arent concerned about whos number 1.

To me the best surfers are thes one with the biggest smile, sharing the stoke and not being an aggro angry wave hog - and the local SUP crew that arrange races, wave comps and help out newbies - there the real winners (cheers Liz and Steve and the other local SA crew!!)
