Driving to the beach today I had to look under the big swoopy nose of my new 14' Naish Glide.

I dropped my board at the usual spot and went to move my car to the free parking side of the road.. I looked back and found myself staring at that beautiful shape.

I brought my camera to snap a few pics for those who might not get to see one of these beauties.. Look at that pointy nose.

From this angle the nose looks almost boat'ish.

Lots and lots of rocker.

Quality and finish is typical Naish.. and a great deck grip just like the 12'er.

The square tail looks a bit odd at first.

Check out that big chopped off arse.

If you look close you can see a line a couple of inches ahead of the hexagon and about a foot behind it.. It looks like extra re enforcement in the main standing area.

Stepping on the board it did feel a bit more tippy than the wider 12'er but it soon felt very stable.

I love the look of that long pointy nose.. and it felt fast to paddle.

I headed across to the breakwater and around to the St Kilda pier.

I stopped at the little beach near the kiosk and took some more pictures.

I thought I better head off before I get a blister on my shutter finger.

Heading back it was into the sun and into a 15-20 knot headwind.

It didn't take long to get back and I decided to get some pictures of the bottom.

It's great to see they didn't go with the sharp rails all the way to the nose like the 12'er.. They are sharp for about 2/3 and the last 1/3 is very soft and round'ish.

The soft front rails and the almost belly'ish front section made turns easy.. With wide sweeping stroke the nose would come around pretty easy to change direction.

That belly soon changes to a planning shape hull.

Here's the dimensions.

I dried my board off on my perfect shaped tree.

When tieing the board to the roof of my car the board looks about a foot thick.

I might need to hang a red flag off the end of the board.. or buy a bigger car.

DJ that is one awesome looking board I am super stoked for you (and slightly jealous).

Just reading your post and looking at the photos made me want to go for a paddle on it.

I think if I was just cruising around on flat water I'd rather be on the 12' Glide.. maybe that's because I'm so used to it..

As for down-winders.. I guess I'll find out tomorrow..

It looks a fair bit narrower than the 12' and obviously longer and thicker. That's a big fin on her so I'm guessing that should help with stability. It's probably just a matter of getting used to it. It looks like it would fly. Does it feel heavier to carry than the 12'er?

Sunday could be good for another downwinder

I agree Oliver, when i first got on my new 12'6 pin I thought it felt a bit unstable and weird. However now it feels as stable as can be.

I think whenever you jump on a new board we all get the death wobbles at first.

Good one DJ, so happy for you. Looks like a tremendous board and I'm happy that in my small way I was able to assist your acquisition of it.

@DJ: Nice foto story and review - I always like to read your opinions! By the way: I like your license plate!

My 14'0'' Glide is on the way and I am looking forward to the look and feel of the "weapon". We will see if this board will fit in our Germanys' North Sea conditions.

I will keep you updated...

Nice board DJ, Let us know what one you prefer and why.

As you mentioned you prefer the 12ft at the moment
But i guess each board is for a different use.

from the looks the 14ft looks the shizza

Thanks

The 12' Glide is 218 ltrs and the 14' Glide is 269 ltrs.

I'll let you know how it goes in the open ocean when I do it.. (Maybe this Tuesday).

I did my 1st distance run on the 14ft glide this arvo, got to say it rocks. Can't wait to get it out in the open ocean as i only got time to do Currumbin creek 8km run this arvo.

Quikest time i've ever done so far on that run! Love it.

Managed to ride some boat wake for about 50m aswell easy as on it.

Paddled with angie yesterday arvo and the run up the creek on the new 14's was great. Definately the fastest we've done that run yet. Catching the boat wake was heaps of fun and really easy to pick up too, so i can't wait to see how it goes with some good runners in the open ocean.

I think i'm really gonna love this board.
