Having great downwind condition and having no one to play with can leave you very frustrated.. This happened many times last summer so I've decided to do something about it.

I've bought myself a folding bike that I can throw on the back seat of my little black zook and my plan was to lock it up at Sandy.. Then drive up to St Kilda.. Do the downwinder and once back at Sandy I can then ride my bike back up to St Kilda to get my car.. Then with my little folding bike back on the back seat again I can then drive back to pick up my board.. Easy.

Today I gave it my first test run and it worked great.. So I'll never miss another downwinder because I can't find someone to do the car shuffle with.. Here's a vid showing how today went.

Hay DJ you need to find yourself a lady friend? I leave my Truck at North Burleigh then my lady friend drives me to Bilinga or as far south as Brunswick Heads, then I just paddle back to me truck. Too easy.

Fantastic - I bet you were tired after that. The alternative would be to own a larger car

Ha.. Yes a bigger car would be another option..

I'd love to be able to do this with my FatBike..

Shame it won't fit on the back seat..

Didn't need the bike yesterday, if you waited at Sandy till early arvo you would have had a 20 knot southerly to downwind with back to the car after our 30 knot northerley in the morning, crazy Melbourne weather😉

Given that your riding back into a solid headwind, how long does the bike trip back take? Love the concept but thats got to hurt!!

I was looking forward to you tucking the board and paddle under your arm and pedalling off like a oversize grom back to your car.

Thanks for that Bruce.. .. but you're too late.. I've bought the bike now..

Maybe we should all be on bikes a have a little peloton happening on the way back to our cars and we could take turns on the front..

You need to go beyond to be able to take the bike with you.

What I have in mind is some more plumbing piping on the back of your board just a bit further back than your camera rig. You may need a slightly smaller bike though. Try bribing a clown perhaps, you know one of those really small ones.

Just paddle to where you feel works, hit the shore and peddle back to your car.

Now, that's a video I want to see. Hahahah

Absolute pisser

DJ he who has the most toys wins must be your motto!

SUP Triathlon: CAR, BIKE, BOARD coming to a comp near you.

It would have been better if you had taken the board back using the Bike IMO you just need SUP Wheels and a rope or board racks for the folding bike.

I've probably done about 50 by myself and heaps of friends do them solo all the time.. Our normal DW'er in the bay is pretty safe but I wouldn't recommend it to newbies.
