Dogman paddled up to me the other day.. I think it was Wednesday..the day before the Mambo started.
I'd just been catching a few small waves on the bar..I was surfing the right hander that put me back into the channel that lead to the lake and Dogman (Roger) paddles up on his Naish 9'6" and says hi.. As soon as I saw that red gath helmet I knew who it was.
We paddled together into the outgoing current without moving while chatting.. We stopped paddling for long enough to shake hands and drifted backwards fast for a few seconds.
I continued over to the bar beach and watched as Dogman paddled over to the bar and started catching waves and riding the left handers.. He was ripping up those small waves.. I was very impressed.
The next day he told me that he'd creased the deck of his new 9'6" and was very bummed because he really loved that board.. It can be fixed but not in time for the Mambo.. He ended up getting a 10'6" off the Naish guys to use and borrowed some of Andrews A boards.
Here's a pic of Roger (Dogman) and Andrew C (Casso) talking during the Mambo.
This was the big SUP prize at the start of the presentation night and we wondered who the lucky person will be.
Dogman was the winner.. and we all agreed that he deserved it the most.
Here's JB handing over the new board while Dogman takes a nanny-nap..
Winners are grinners.
He was very excited by winning and could not wait to rub it all over his body.
I have a few pictures of the Dogman.. Notice the one leg trick moves..
