laceys lane said..Well DJ some one is telling porkies then. The mail
we,ve been getting is excellent fast in the flats, forget about DW ing them.
That's what we are hearing around the traps.
I tending to believe not so good DW ing because of all those edges right up to the nose.
I like the looks of the board in the water looks a goer in the flats.
Happy to be proven wrong.
And before anyone gets there nickers in a knot its a public forum and its been posted and debate is good

Cheers
Thanks LL.. Yes I know it's hard to know what and who to believe these days.. and don't worry.. No one is getting their nickers in a knot..

I want it mostly for downwinding so if it's not working there I will sell it and buy another 29" wide 14' GS Glide.. and maybe pull my finger out and start using my LEX26 more..

Maybe if it's not working for some people because they are just so used to something else.. or don't know how to make it work.
In my short paddle on it I loved the no-boof thing.. and the no-sprinkler thing.. The sprinkler thing is something the LEX26 and most other brand DW boards do because the water is getting sucked and wrapping around the big soft rails in the nose area.. Also when the nose goes under on this new shape there doesn't seem to be any slowing or pushing of water.. and I love how the extra volume there lifts the nose up much better and quicker than before.. Ever since the first Glide I've been wondering why aren't they using concaves.. We know from windsurfing slalom boards concaves work and work well.. They help make a board jump onto the plane and stay planing for much longer.. That's just what you need for downwinding.. Starboard started using them and theirs have got bigger and deeper over the years.. One of their new 2015 shapes has a very interesting huge concave in the tail.. Can't wait to see and hear how that goes.. I also used to think why oh why aren't they giving us more v to help with turning while surfing a runner.. I've been involved with the design and making of at least a dozen windsurfing slalom boards for myself and those boards are the closest thing to a DW board IMO.. If we made a slalom board so flat in the fin box area it would be way too stiff and hard to turn without digging a rail really deep like when power jibing.. But that's something you'd never be doing on a DW board.. I'm also loving the big wider tail.. Why did it take them so long to work that one out..

.. As much as this new board is very very different it's actually just an evolution of the original Glide/Jav.. I really like what I see.. But liking what I see and it actually working are two different things.. Can't wait to be proven right or wrong when we finally get so good DW conditions..
