Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has had experience with the Thule SUP Taxi? I saw the surfboard version at the ARB store in Brighton and the guys there said that they've only sold a dozen or so of the SUP carrier. But I like that they are lockable and a universal fit. Don't really feel like I need it on the peninsula, but our summer plans are for a pair of road trips up the east coast, so I'm thinking the extra security is the go. What say you?

We have one and they are just fantastic! Especially if you're doing long road trips! You can have you flat water SUP board and a surfing SUP on the rack together.... No road noise either which is always a plus!!

One of our regular customer has had two boards relaced under warranty because the straps failed while passing a road train in SW WA at 100kph.
The lockable end of the straps didn't fail, but the other end popped while passing a road train travelling in the opposite direction
The Strap is attached using a folded compression fitting.
After arguing with Thule for three weeks, he told them to stand with their feet on one of the crossbars and yank gentley with one hand to get the straps to detach.
After that they agreed to replace 2 fanatic board (10'6" Fly wood Edition), plus rail tape, plus bags, with no further questions asked.
Ps we thinK the product is awesome but Thule need to retrofit a better attachement for the permanently attached end, so if you have one i would throw an extra strap on for long distance trips.

If it still uses straps, is it more secure against theft than conventional racks and a pair of lockable, steel-core SPTs? If so, how? (not dissing, just asking)

Just picked-up mine and couldn't be more stoked! The guys at ARB Brighton said they hadn't heard anything bad about the Taxi and are seeing people sending their mates (like me) in for a purchase. This said, no one else is doing anything close to this, so.....

Scarbs SUP, it must have taken a hell of a lot of leverage to break that thing! Note to self: Pull-over when road train approaches.
