Had a similar experience 20 years ago with a large manta ray off the coast at Elliot heads ( near Bundaberg Qld ) while on a sailboard .
Can say yes I did shat my pants and yes it is an experience I will never forget .
I think the manta ray got just as big a scare as I did
Edit-Just thinking that would have been 30 years ago
Elliot heads near bundy great little place , would be a magic place for a SUP
