Can anybody give some advice on how to turn effectively, fast and also how to turn without doing a shoulder injury? When races are approx 400m it's quite an important part to get right. I tried the surf stance as well as the neutral position and found my arc for both were very wide and hard on the shoulder. Any suggestions would be welcomed!!
You don't need to change stance much.
Maybe move your back foot back just a little from the parallel stance but that's all.
I think it's all about getting low and doing wide sweeping paddle strokes.
I'll try and do a vid for you that explains what I mean.
