Great looking board. Just curious on the size of your big mate. I'm 6'11 and 120 kg and looking to get a shorty like that. I read your comments with a lot of interest and wonder if the regular formula that you use regarding body weight to the volume is the same. Width of the board is not a concern as having a high pivot point of the shoulder means very little to the paddle angle. Being taller it should also allow me to go from rail to rail with a greater weight transfer from a high center of gravity. I'm currently riding a 12'6 Starboard and use it in the bay for flat water paddles but want something more exciting for the surf. I also surf a 7 ft fish so I am used to a smaller board. Sorry if my explanation isn't correct but i hope you know what i mean.

Thanks

hoagie.. You should have a go on my 8'12" x 32" that Dean made me.. It's very stable for me but I'm only 90kg.. I think Deans mate is about 120kg.

btw.. I should have called you about coming along with us today.. We had some 40 knot gusts and it was pretty much surfing the whole way from St Kilda to Sandy.

Hey Dean,
Is that an F27 in the background? I worked for quite a while building F27s, 31s and 33s up here in Queensland. We built a lot of whole boats as well as kits for the home builder. They're a fine machine for what they are. Do you get out sailing it much? They are certainly a lot of fun.

Hi Stuey,
It's an F-32 AX. It has only been out a hand full of times, vico weather is just so unpredictable & there is no where to hide around here when it comes up from the east like last week. I'm hoping the weather will settle down the next few months, there is a few good spots to sail to & sup.
I had beams in kit form for my first boat that came from OSTAC QLD. Did you work there?

Hi Dean,
I worked for a place called Keal Marine in Yandina. Yeah most people used to buy the beams as a kit, they would be mind numbingly difficult and time consuming to produce without the molds. Well done on the boat though, they are quite a complex build even with Ians incredibly detailed plans.
