The other day when I popped into Deans place to pick up my new 9' SnowBoard we decided to go down the road to Anglesea inlet for a quick paddle.
I could test to see if my new board floats me.. and Dean and Dale could have a paddle on my new 14' Naish Glide.
Dean soon realized the 14'er with all that nose rocker is pretty slow compared to his 20' needle-nosed rocket ship.. Anything feels slow compared to that thing.
We caught up with another friend of Dean and Dale.. Mark joined us on Deans 14' flat water board.
Here Dean is checking to see if the 14' Glide goes any faster upside down.
Dean said why don't we all go for a paddle up the creek and I thought why not.. I'd never been there before and was keen to check it out.
I was feeling very good on the 9'er.. I was very surprised at how well it paddled on flat water.
Dale was now on my 14' Glide.
Dean was on his 20' rocket ship.
Mark had gone on ahead.. I took my camera and snapped off a few shots along the way.
It was a cool crappy day but the water was glassy..Beautiful.
We passed a water speed limit sign.. Dean was going twice that speed.. I let him off this time with a warning.
We soon caught up with Mark.. Mark had only paddled a few times and did a great job keeping up with us.
Yes Dale.. I'm keeping up on my little wave board.. and yes I'm still taking pictures.
I love this pic of Dean.. Just look at that board.. Amazing.
We had a few of these low bridges that we had to go under.. Each time I though..'I'm gunna get wet here' but never did fall in.
How glassy is that.
I then hear Dean say 'Prepare to be egged'.. I look up ahead and see a bridge covered in school kids.
The kids were great.. cheering us on and waving to us.
Soon after that bridge I saw this beautiful white stork.
Almost back now and I can see the ocean in the distance.
My little yellow-peril had done great.. We all had a good paddle and no one fell in.
All packed up and ready to hit the road.. I'm looking forward to coming back to do it again.. Next time I'll be using my 12' Glide.
I was only going to post a few of these pictures but thought 'what the heck' I might as well post them all.. Hope that's ok.
Are you going to put a deck pad on the Snowboard or just go with the sugar coat? I kind of like the idea of some padding to crash into during those awkward wipeouts that inevitably happen.
Thanks DJ! How far up the creek can you actually paddle? Never actually knew how far up it goes.....Ronnie
The paddle is 5 km total -there and back. The river stops just short of the power station. The water was really clear and we could see bream in the upper reaches It is a very pleasant paddle on days when the surf is no good. Great for concentrating on technique.
Dave must be a fit bloke paddling all the way on the 9 footer. Can't wait to see his deck grip design.
Thanks for the ride on the 14'Naish Dave. It must be great on a downwinder standing up the back of the board.

Thanks guys (and gals).. Gorgo.. I do plan to put deck grip on.. Right now it's just a gloss finish.. That's why I had to wear my Crocs..
Yes, it is a great place for a fun race, low bridges, tight bends in the river, nice scenery. Croc's on the banks, Tiger snakes in the water Well looks like there could be! A round trip of 5ks is a good distance most would enjoy.
