I stick mine in a condom and tie the end in a knot. If I want to be double secure i put it in a WaterSafe Vic pouch the SUP Bus gave me. Volume is reduced a bit but you can still sms thru it

Thanks for the feedback.
Thommo thanks for your kind words, the reason for having an Iphone on the water is a commercial one and an accreditation requirement more so than a 'wankfest look at me I got a top gizmo' one.
I also think being connected while surfing is wrong in many ways.
