Looks like the same concept as Greg Webbers pool but in a straight line. The donut makes more sense with an infinite barrel but good to see this all coming to reality.

that wooden frame right at the end, actually goes the entire length. Id guess its something to do with were and how the wave is generated???

Yep it's Like a boat hull being dragged through the water and the wake breaking on the bank on either side.

The New Wave Garden? What happened to the "Old" Wave Garden? I thought the "Old" version was the ducks nuts. Maybe that was the sound I could hear.

From my understanding the old version pulled along some kind of thing underwater and took for ever to let the water go back to the other end. This version seems to make a bigger wave with less water being dragged. This means more waves and a more financial model for potential investors to buy and put all around the world.

Not sure on the progress of Gregs pool but I'd say he'd want to get moving as judged by the reaction yesterday from people they will be rushing to buy the first working version of a good financially viable wave pool versus what exists now which have all gone broke.

honestly, and im not trying to be a hater, its still not a great wave. The vid of those 2 guys showed them both doing one move over and over and over....With the wave breaking towards the structure it really is limiting what can be done....no down the line stuff to cut back etc. I am aware that they have to start somewhere and this is a big step forward, but it still has along way to go.

CMC, doesnt GW pool break away from the center of the donut?

No the wave is still generated in deeper water from the outside wall, the inside donut is where the shallow water makes the wave stand up and break. In this wave garden example the deep water is in the middle and creates a wake which breaks left and right on the shallow bank.

The downside of this model would of course be the amount of waves able to be generated and the size possible. IMO the donut is still a better idea but these guys seem to have the jump of actually having people riding waves.

The waves are not much different to the below here are they?

ok, I thought Id seen an artists impression of the GW donut with the waves breaking from the center out......I kinda figured that would be the logical way as you wouldnt need structure on the outside, just the bank underwater getting shallower, which would allow for a bit more wiggle room. Especially for a spastic like me.
