Hey Brooko

I've surfed Puerto Escondido not quite that big but nearly, Its sand bottom super hollow and the hold downs are serious. Three yanks drowned in one week while I was there in 1988

Hey Brooko do you have a different wave size scale for rats?

I've always liked knee high, waist high, head high etc.. bit that's not very big if you're a rat..

Hey Men,
I have also surfed Puerto and got the gravel rash across the lower back. Also had to pull a yank from the water who was in big trouble. Can be just a vicious wave.

There are however several world class breaks south of Puerto between there and Salina cruz. There is one that I spent ten years at , off and on, between 1990 and 2000. The perfect right point break and my brother and I surfed it for five years before anyone else came. It would be the ideal SUP wave especially in the northern winter season(gets too crowded now from march to oct). Crystal clear, head high 40 seconds of bliss.
And cerveca fria. better stop , I'm teasing myself

What a classic you were over there around the same era as me

I think they must be a lot of drownings there , maybe because it looks sort of benign until you have your first near drowning experience

We headed back North after nearly two weeks at Puerto , We heard there were some great places a bit further south but we both got pretty crook and lose heaps of weight , We stoped in at Puerto Vallarta on the way back and had good waves at Punta De Mita, gnarly little mechanical reef break , I just started feeling better and while sleeping in my board bag for "safety" I got stung by a Scorpion on the back of my leg so feeling like ****e We flew back to California were no one recognised us from one month before. Hard core travelin that was
