In August we traditionally have off shore winds which can lead to great winter surf though often not as big as summer.
The coast is an easy place to get from one location to another. Noosa to Caloundra is only about 40minutes.
Noosa points are great especially SE winds are high. Noosa River mouth is great when the points are not working and the rest of the coast is blown out. Sunshine to Coolum is an exposed coast and often has larger waves then the rest of the coast. Great for beach breaks. Mudjimba and Maroochydore are often a bit more mellow then Coolum but have a great wave. The river mouth is good for SUPs especially if the beach is blown out. Alex has a good mellow beach break north of the SLSC and a good point south of the SLSC. Often crowds up though. Mooloolaba is not what I would call a SUP wave unless the bombie is breaking when it probably becomes the best on the coast. This is rare for August. Normally a Summer thing. Karties is great but has one take off spot and crowds up at 10 people. Traditional Short board spot but they do not mind respectful SUP riders. Kawana stretch has great sup in winter much like Sunshine to Coolum. Wurtulla is one of the best breaks on the coast with a very punchy wave. Dicky beach has a great wave and is often a good choice when north kawana is blown out. Moffatts is a classic wave with a variety of take off points. It is a larger area and can handle a larger crowd. Great when blowing SE. Kings i would avoid but happy valley is great especially for the family or when blowing northerly.
If your here for the second sunday of the month come and join a club day.
