Nice. Wood ......Check the new RRD V2 full wood out ..had a look last time in Perth ..nice Finish ..was on the heavy side
but everybody who came into the shop couldn't take their eyes off it .as me ..V2 wood .
266 litre ..$$. ..it was a show piece.but heavy.

Th 14 X 27 is weighing in about 10 kg....I could carry two!

I hope they see sense and ditch the LiftSUP handle for this model.

If they are looking for suggestions, the best handles are the SIC ones, and the very similar Blue Planet ones. If you've never experienced the convenience of that style, then you've got a transformational experience coming, especially in wind.

(Sunova:if you can't use the SIC/BP ones then the super-deep ledge handles like on the recent Surftech Barks are pretty good. Then after that comes strap handles, and then trailing those by a long way are the FCS style narrow handles without a ledge, like boards used to have: thank heavens most do not any more. And then last of all are the liftsup handles, which are just plain dangerous in shorebreak because you can't get them open in a hurry and they frequently jam.)

Naish and Jimmy Lewis also have very good handles.....ledge types. They are to use the LiftSup handles btw and argue there are pros and cons of each. I would prefer a ledge open one myself.

I was recently offered a Sunova board at a very good price, and was very tempted. But I was put off by the awful experiences I've had with the LiftSUP handles on other boards.

So, if you are reading this Sunova, I can tell you that you've lost at least one sale because of it. No-one on the forums is jumping to the defence of LiftSUP handles, and in fact at the moment there's a thread running which is describing ways of dealing with it's shortcomings.

So, pretty please, listen to your potential customers, and fit a decent handle. Especially on an ocean board. Thanks.

The video shows a very interesting board though. Definitely a bit similar to the Vapor/DC, but enough of it's own style to be something new. I'd like to try one for sure.

Personally I have been surfing and racing boards with LiftSUP handles for almost 5 years.
Professionally have been selling LiftSUP handles for 4 years with boards from Boardwalks, SUP ATX , Lahui Kai and now SUNOVA.
We also use them in our School and Demo Fleet. We are talking 100's if not 1000's of boards.
I can honestly say we have never had any issues or complaints from anyone.
Women and families love them (the board feels half the weight when carrying them) and most people who buy one for the first time soon grow to love them. No other handle gives you the security when lifting aboard above your head. No other handle can be used to lock your board up if you leave it (great for solo downwinders ).
I have no doubt some have had issues, but if you use the handle of a board as an excuse to not look at a brand, only one persons looses out.

AA - both the SIC and the Blue Planet handles give you better security when lifting above your head, and you can also use them to lock up your board.

But neither the SIC or the Blue Planet handles will jam on you, dig into your palm on long walks, or mean you've got nothing to hold onto if you need to grab the board in a hurry in a shorebreak.

The handle is an important part of a board - especially longer ones - in terms of day to day ownership, and a poor one is an irritation every time you use the board, whereas a good one reminds you every time how well the shaper understands the paddlers needs. If the handle on the board means my wife can't carry the board to the car without complaining, then I'm not buying the board.

The LiftSUP handle was a good idea in theory, but in practice it just doesn't work as well as other solutions IMO. But clearly we differ on this point, and you are entitled to try to sell as many boards with LiftSUP handles in them as you wish.

Anyway, whatever your thoughts on the handle, this looks like an interesting board and I hope someone can try it out soon and give us a report. It's great to see so many ocean-capable boards coming onto the market: given that the main growth over the last few years has been with inland flat water paddling, I was concerned a while ago that this sort of board would become a rarity. So I'm delighted to see this board, and I rather look the like of it so far. Do we know the dimensions and volume yet?

Sunova are great value here in Europe, and it's promising that this isn't just another Cobra board, assuming the brand keep a close eye on what goes on in the factory.

They will be from 24 thru to 29 wide..

Sunova must be kicking some goals to put so many SKUs together... unless they are made to order?

If not i hope they arent over-extending...
