Dogman, you r da man!

I would love to be a big wave hell man, but I really don't like getting nailed! That's why my theory is not to stack it.

Hope we get some good size for Mambo, the bar I could surf at some size.

I like all kinds of surf. I push it in the little stuff and charge it in the bigger stuff. I would like to get the opportunity to test my mettle on some big clean surf (double -triple overhead or so), but would have to travel and might get my a$$ handed to me. I really don't know my limit, but if it is clean, I am on it (I would be all over that last wave that DJ posted)! I guess when I boil it down, my preference is more about wave quality than size... I've been stoked on 2'ers and 12'ers (faces) - for me, it is all about the STOKE!
Where is that pic from, DJ - Makaha?

I think that's Bruce Raymand in the Mentawis in Indo on a nice six footer.

When I first got the SUP I thought I would only use it for small stuff but I really believe they are fantastic for the big stuff as well. Apart from getting dragged a bit longer I can only see advantages with SUP for big stuff. You can see better, you can sit further out away from the impact zone and get into them earlier - all of these things reduce the risk of a wipeout.

Where I think it loses it's adavantage is waves with ledgy takeoffs or breaks that are very close to rocks. We have quite a few of these in Sydney that would be very interesting to try on the SUP as long as you are handy with the old epoxy

goatie

i thought the same thing when i went to buy my first board

i'll just get it to paddle around when its flat

but like most crew the bug got me and i just can't make myself paddle out my shortboard and after only using my shortie to kite with its smashed up a bit and now looks very ugly

like you said in larger swell the old standup goatboat is defenantly an advantage as you can see the sets coming from miles away and be able to manovure yourself up in the lineup to score yourself heaps of waves

the disadvantage is being caught in the impact zone......nasty stuff.......
