Hi,

I am looking at getting my first stand up paddle board and need some suggestions.

I am 6 foot 7 and about 115kg's, I want a board for flat and waves up to around a meter?

I saw a 12 foot Naish, has anyone had experience with these boards
Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

I guess it depends on how much surfing you have done, but the key here is demo demo demo and then demo some more until your happy with a baord.

Depends where you are in QLD but Roar Industries has a great range of boards and Jacko and Angie would deifnitely put you on the right track with demos and advice.

At 6'7 I would suggest you look at a 12'2 x 31 Laird Hamilton. I owned one myself and they are very stable but surf well long board style if your mobile on the board.

They paddle quite quickly in the flat water and all in all are a fun board, in many ways I wish i still had mine.

I also think the 11'6 Naish migh be good as well, it will be less stable than the Laird but also worth a look for a 1st board for a bigger guy.

Best regards

Phill.

Just about any of them in the 11 6" range , naish is good. The 11 2" starboard is an excellent board for big fella's and surfs really well .

Hey mate there are a few good big boy boards out there most have already been suggested. Best bet is to go and have a demo or hire a board to make sure what you are buying is going to be right for you.

Cheers Jacko

you could probably pick up a cheap southpoint 11,6 and they are ultra stable and surf pretty good too.

PSH 10.6 wide pm me if you would like to demo mine [}:)]

I agree with all of the above.

I demo'd the 10'6 Surf Tech 'Laird" board in some messy but ecent sized surf last year and thought it was one of the best out of about 10 boards I got on that day. Surfs really well and has good glide. I don't own one as the wife says 3 is enough but I would consider it if you had the chance to demo it.

I agree with the Dogman, the glide is a great board but not for a 6'7 beginner in the surf IMHO.

At 6'7 and 115kg i think the glide is a little under gunned stability wise and it is more a Down Winder / Flat water board.

LSD what is Marl Bradke riding? he is about the same dimensions?
