I have a 2 piece "hole and plug" type sup paddle. It's a tiny bit loose. What's the best way to make it tighter?

Throw it out and buy a one piece - works every time :-)

No paddle, no rattle. Brilliant!

Thanks, but mine does rattle and I was hoping someone might have had the same problem and found a way to stop it rattling.

Try teflon Plummer's tape. There is no adhesive on it and good for fixing leaks and rattles.

Seriously, I would avoid any kind of tape that could mess up and lock the thing for good.

Most probably it is the end inside the shaft that is loose. Try to see if there is an end cap of some sort, try to remove it and replace by something a small bit larger, such as a plastic champagne "cork", sanded to the diameter.
