I surfed for many years up to few years ago. I used to always follow a good session with a pie at the local bakery. At one stage I could have rated the pie shops from Coollangatta to Main Beach.

I have now taken up SUP and also started to surf again. But now I find myelf at Subway after a surf. Maybe it's the widening spread I'm trying to prevent.

Subway is a reasonable option if you choose wisely.

Lately I've been doing my own Hamburgers. Lean mince (with 1 chopped onion and plenty of garlic, salt and pepper), a 6 pack of rolls, mixed lettuce, tomatoes and cheese.

The burgers are so lean, you need a little olive oil to stop them sticking....

The occasional flathead fish burger too.

Mmmm, my favourite feed after a big surf all morning is to head to the orginal Montezum's (Mexican) in Burleigh. That's if i have nothing else to do all day, which is pretty rare now.
So if i have to be at the shop to open, i go to "The Deck Cafe" along Currumbin beach front, excellant breakies and juices!! The french toast at the Deck is ALL TIME with Crispy Bacon and maple suryp YUMMO.

and fresh squeezed juice, one lemon two grapefruit and an orange mix, and half hour later am totally charged for another sesh... (though white bread tends to make me sleepy)

...or for a grease hit... burek, cheese spinach

those without a local macedonian community are totally missing out..

bureks' are the shnit

Sounds pretty good Doc

Just add a bit of l.s.a to the honey banana sambos makes them that little bit better.

OMG!!! SOOO GOOD!! The Mexican and a bacon cheese sausage roll after a SUP was all time!!

Now it really depends where i am.... down at the local its some freshly caught fish and prawns.... down the coast its Soto Ayam (Chicken and rice soup... soo good) or some Mie Rebus (noodle soup) and Es Jeruk... or if in Bali its a fresh fruit salad... I really dont plan on going home anytime soon! hahaha

In the 70's it was a jaffle and a Big M at the Merricks store (which is now a swanky restaurant and a platter of dips costs $50).

In the 80's a counter meal at the San Remo pub and a chat to the cute barmaid.

Now it's coffee and carrot cake at the Flinders bakery.

Bacon and eggs any way. Fried on toast, in a sandwich, scrambled, omelette, it doesn't matter. Love me bacon and eggs.

Here's one for the early seventies northern beaches old f@rts, a hot buttered surfboard from the Collaroy takeaway - half a massive raisin bread bun toasted and dripping in hot butter.

No wonder most of us either died out or have to ride monster boards

There was a place at Bulreigh on the gold coast highway called Bill and Shirley's
they made the best choc milkshakes, raisin toast, burgers in town.

Behind the Greenmount slsc there was this little corner store which made the best foot long hotdogs,I think everyone in Cooly was devastated when that place closed down to make way for a high rise. Now this was back in MP's day! Stubbies comps and Rabbit was coming on,sh-t I must be an old fart

Speaking of Old.
A steak pie with sauce. A jam and cream doughnut and a pint of choc milk from the old Mandurah bakery on the foreshore. On the way back from Avalon.
Or a Chiko roll from the fish and chip shop at the Cott. pavilion before they knocked it down.

Remember doing both as well. Except used to have the Masters Iced Coffee.

Now, either buy a steak and mushroom pie or head home and have bacon and eggs, or whatever leftovers are in the fridge.
