I've seen the shore break at Gunamatta big enough for you to get barreled there.. and you're on your own with doing that..

I reckon a good day at Bells is on the agenda.. .. congrats on the new 9'6" wide allrounder.. Nice board.

Are you talking Manly NSW there Homeally? If so yeah Winki is a definate for getting barrelled. I reckon when it is breaking big enough for 'second reef' it would be Supable. Have to be a southish swell though.

Hey OG SUP, have you ever sufed Woolamai at Phillip Island? Big hollow beachie but ususally with huge deep channels so you could get out on a SUP.

DY point if you have the nads to take off deep...

Gunnamata..Wollamai...whne they hit 6 foot...Quarantines would be a goer but don't snap a leggie...a couple of the bombies out the back of 13th look like they throw a decent pit....a couple of spots down near brooko....cathederal rocks...bird rock....

I reckon if your keen to get stuck in Bird rock or the 13th bombies are your best bet super sucky you can get washed in off the reef if it goes peer shaped and they both throw a nice bowl...give me a yell if your keen for the 13th bombie...Bancorra might also good when its gets real big

Looks at LSD and raised eybrow!!! and says Simon Tahiti! NOT. I dont want the 9'6 stuck in my ass lol.

Bird Rock maybe not too localised me thinks especially for SUP!

I have SUPed the Charlmont reef behind beacon but not big enough for it to barrel, but seriously big enough to slap my ass hard! IMHO its a freaky wave and the peak moves all over the place or did on the day I was out.
I have a lot of respect for that place.

I have never SUPed at the Island but I would be keen to give it ago.

Down Brookos way, ahh no, nads not big enough yet!

Still looking for more options!

Phill

Congrats on the new weapon Phil Robdog told me about it today whilst out for our arvo session at nice Bridgewater.
Umm, I got a really decent barrel on my backhand last week at a super heavy spot compared to Bridgwater Over head high and heaving. It takes megga commitment to fully pull in on such big equipment, but it was too good not to go it.
I knew I would get shacked on the wave I took and it all set up beautiful As I was pulling in I was thinking I wont make the exit but I did, and was stoked.

On the next similar type wave on my back hand I pulled In and didnt make it out, I got the biggest flogging I have had In years I nearly got a fin up my a** as the board got sucked up the face and just flipped fins up at me as I was falling forward, not a good look. A week later and I still have a sore calf, bruised buttock and little bit more choice In which wave I will be tying to get shade on a sub.
But next time your down this way we will go seek .

Yeah I rekon your best bet would be Powlett River mouth. It barrels consistantly.
Or Wollamai or Bird Rock as already mentioned.

I tried to get barrelled at Woolamai and got barrelled before getting smashed. But I rekon it was makeable that day but the one smashing put me off. It is really hard to jump over the front of your board when your too deep on a SUP which means you get battered!

But I to have the same ambition! OG, maybe the bombie but the moons would have to align.

Hey Mac,

Yup I have the PSH 9'6 Wide safely in the quiver. I just wont get sex ever again or so I have been told. Guess I will just do more supping.

I paddle a 12f x 26inch wide munoz in the river all the time to increase balance and thats the key i guess to get on a smaller board.

The 9'6 is a sweet board especially with my 105kegs on it!

Its gonna be a steep fun learning curve.

I want to join brooko on an 8'6

I am still a gumby but a smiling progressing gumby!

yeah this is interesting.getting barrelled on a sup could go really wrong. im going with an 80-20 chance setup.what i find a little hard is having the paddle in tight against my body on front side with the paddle wave side and then being unable to do those fine body movements to get the hell out of a barrell. i,m toying with the idea of letting go of my front hand on the paddle so i can drive the board out. anybody thoughts on that?

Yeah Lacey, I reckon this will be one of my methods on my forehand, I have often thought the same thing, If getting covered on my forehand (righthander) just holding the paddle with only my left hand that way the paddle blade will be out of the water on the outside of your outside rail and just pumpind and driving a bit for speed to get out. Tried this on a few closeouts and the paddle was never really a problem.

The other way would be like that pic the other day trailing it along the wave face as you would your hand, this could get nasty though.

mate went out and put the nosebag on. first wave, one handed paddle inside wave felt great.keep it down low and used my left hand as pointer to aim. did the same on the next, but the paddle got struck in the wave face when i rotated to drive the board down. so i guess you are right - paddle outside in barrels. one handed caper is the go i think, felt free-er and safer.
ps i,m not talking about huge barrels
cheers
