Hi Indo, I have the 10'6" wide AR and love it. My previous board was the 11'6" Kalama which I rode for abt 9 months. The 10'6" paddles almost as good as the Kalama and surfs really well. Top of my wish list now is the PSH 9'6" wide ripper, 6 more months down the track. RobDog

Not fat waves by choice Jake, I go down South about once a month and to Gnaraloo every year for the last 12 or 13 (lost count) and Bali when I can (July this year) I'd love to get on the 9'6" AR Wide, but am worried about being undergunned. I'll probably end up on the 10'6" AR and hope for the best. I live 100mrs from the local beachie, so I can go most days. I'm a bit wary of the Wide as they are pretty sucky waves.

Hey Robdog, how does the AR Wide handle when it gets a bit sucky? We have pretty powerfull waves over here.

That photo on your profile is of Gnaraloo isn't it.

Might be a good excuse to arrange a bit of a group social paddle and all meet in person rather than just on this forum.

Indo
10'6" wide AR no problems in sucky waves. All the psh are designed in Hawaii so I figure they will handle most Aussie waves. If you are young and have good balance I would consider the 10'6" psh All Rounder (rather than the wide) one of Blane Chamber's favourite boards. I turn 60 next week so I opted for the wide 10'6" to have a touch more stability paddling around. I weigh 80kg, trimmed 5kg since started sup. Photo on profile is of my son surfing around home.

Not bad at the moment down my end (South) I walk out at the track off the end of Margarets, soo crowded at the North end (Surf Club) anyway.

Friday looks good as well

PM was personal message, not arvo

All the best for the big day next week Robbo.

Indo,
I'm a noivce at this SUPing game and I've ridden Robdog PSH wide and liked it, very user friendly.
I own a Starie 11 2 and love it, I reckon both boards are great but different.

You need to demo both IMHO if you have sucky waves. The rocker is very differnt on both boards.

7S Uber Fish goes off.I ride it as a quad very responsive and fun to ride.Gets a bit tippy as a quad when a bit of bump or wind picks up .About to try it as a thruster set up to se if that makes it more stable in the rougher conditions.
I started on 11'6 timpone and than onto 10'10 walden( a great allrounder as well ). Went to the Uberfish to see how small I could ride.Still in learning mode but loving it.

All right everyone, let's open it up.

For a 40year old life long surfer/sailer/kiter who weighs in at a pretty fit 100kg, what would be the best SUP for me to buy? I don't mind doing it a bit tough to start with as I'm sure one board only means a bit of a compromise, but I want a board that's easy to learn on but will still ride waves. I've always been a fan of Naish and Star Boards for wave sailing.

For everyone's 2 cents that they've contributed to this thread I calculate this post to be worth 52 cents.

I'd like to contribute another 2 cents and say that the Uber fish doesn't have enough rocker for sucky waves.
