This vid shows why I like doing down-winders better than any other vid that I've seen.. Even tho it's not SUP's I'm sure you'll get the picture.

Sure.. you've got the hassle of the car shuffle thing but it's worth it IMO.. I hope someone does a good SUP down-winder vid one day.

Where's that coming from Greeny? DJ can surf, he can surf well. I've seen him in action, competing at the '08 Mambo surfing contest. He won a prize too.

You made me laugh Greenie.. ..and I know you're having a joke..

You are also right.. I was never much of a surfer and my windsurfing background does not help me much surfing these big boards using a paddle instead of a sail.

I wish I could surf as well as you.. Casso.. Brooko and many others here.. and I really enjoy having a go in the waves when I can.

If any of you guys are in Melbourne when we get a honking north wind I'd be happy to share one of my boards with you and take you on one of our down-winders.. It's so different to being in the surf but still heaps of fun.. and also very challenging.

This vid makes you feel like you are there.. and the views looking at the back of those waves as you paddle to stay on them shows just what it's like.

Cheers Casso.. I know Greenroom and he's a funny guy..

Now that looks like fun-especially in some real swell-wouldn't want to drop your paddle on one of those outriggers out in that swell and wind-could be tricky!

Oh good. I'm glad you were just having a joke. Gullible Casso didn't get it ... although I did think it was a bit out of character of you.

All happy.

Good Vid DJ...I'll actually be there in 10 days. On Maui and my race partner & I plan on doing a few Maliko runs the week before our race. I 'd love to get hold of a camera to attach to my board but at the moment we don't even have a board to race. But I'll see what we can do. I've never really read all of the threads on here about GoPro's and camera attachments etc but maybe I should before I go over. Or maybe I'll try catch up with Rambo this week for a rundown.

No.. We pulled the pin on it at about 8am.

It was looking good untill the cold front hit at about 730am.

The gusts were over 50 knots from the west.

Bummer.. ..We were hoping the front would not hit untill about midday.

I wonder how the guys doing the Bass Straight crossing held up in that wind..
