Found this on a blog from California, a beautiful board. A lot of love gone into its creation. A real work of art.

I think 'boardbumps' - 'Rod' will appreciate this one..

I've uploaded one image here but as it's not my board etc. - here's the link to the images and thread with a brief story.

Very nice Subbie..

I have a beautiful 9'4" mal that looks alot like it..Here it is after a sech at the bar at Merimbula.

It looks heavy but it's incredibly light...I'd love a SUP board just like it.

Hi all

If you want to see some fabulous bits of timber, including wooden SUP's then look at
www.grainsurf.com/forum/login.php?sid=08e65f28f8c71d120f4f24d42ef500b7
it's a site called Tree to sea and all they do is wooden boards.

Very nice, there is nothing like the natural wood finish. I'ld love one of those boards as a sup but would worry about the weight. Love the concept of planting trees and being sustainable and all that guff. How heavy is you mal DJ?

One day I think I will just lash out and get one.

Very nice mal you've got DJ. You're right, with that nose design they are very similar.

Only problem is they almost look too good to risk damaging! I guess that's why people hang them on walls

There was a guy out at the Pines on a board identical in design to the California one. It was his first go on it. We all promised not to run him down.

I would be a lot more interested in Naish boards if they went for a cedar finish instead of icy pole stick beige.

Treehouse is all set to do SUP's. No photos on the website yet.

I have a Treehouse surfboard which is no heavier than any other board.

Cheers.

what are treehouse boards like? i looked into manufacturing my own timber board and after talking to one or two people realised that unless you are both a master craftsman AND a gifted board shaper, the time and money spent are highly likely to outweigh the outcome by 100%. i would dearly love to own a board which looks like this though.

The Treehouse boards are probably a bit different to the example here in that they are not hollow. They use a timber laminate over XPS (extruded polystyrene) foam. The boards are stong and light. I can't speak for the SUP's as I've only ridden the surfboards, but they seem incredibly fast and truely give the 'soul-surfing' flow. I'd liken the construction to a cross-over between a traditional surfboard lay-up and sailboard construction. It is still very intricate work, done by the "master craftsman" Dave.

I'd suggest getting in contact with him through the website if you want to know more. Friendly guy.

Cheers.

Yes they are really works of art, take a long time to produce. Its one of my goals in this lifetime, but I have to wait till I have built my retirees workshop at home, so all the travel time to the factory, can be spent building wood boards at home.

Great.. Thanks.. Now I have the project after next all sorted out..

Actually, this should follow on quite nicely from the cedar strip kayak that is brewing in my workshop at the moment.

I can already feel a bout of spousal eye-rolling coming on!
