Hey Peeps,
Ian and I did a downwinder yesterday afternoon at 4:30 from Trigg to North Mulla's. Wind was a very solid 25 knots with gusts well above.
When we stopped in the Trigg carpark, we hopped out and surveyed the heaving swell crashing onto the reefs and beaches and observed the strong rip running out to sea from in between the reefs which were sucking super shallow with water draining off them from time to time. Very exciting launch!
Once out the back, it was game on, dead Southerly wind with a very SW'erly swell. Some of the biggest runners right at the start and to get on them you had to paddle with them towards the beach. Great drops, fast runs and big smiles.
Runners straightened up a bit off Sorento but very confused sea due to the Marina walls. Once past Hillarys, it was hog heaven, sweet runners of medium size, easy to link and a good direction. Past Pinnaroo was even better with smaller but better formed runners offering very long rides in relatively smooth conditions. The runners from MLSC were incredible, crazy bigger runners that linked into long fast and exciting rides.
The swell coming into the beach made the dismount exciting and less than graceful, but such a good downwinder.

Pity we don't get conditions like that more often

Anyone else get out and get a good one?
