I've just dig out some of my old pics to show how I once used a yoga mat for deck grip.
It worked ok but I don't recommend it.. I bought a Nike yoga mat for about $25.
It had a nice texture on it and a rubber type backing.
It was large enough to do the job.. I just cut it to size for my board.
I thought it was pretty cool and saved me heaps of bucks.
I had used a type of industrial waterproof supa glue but only stuck it around the edge and down the center..and then I ran a bead of silicon around the edge.
It seeded good at first.. It seemed waterproof.. But it soon started soaking up water and slipping in the standing area where there was no glue.
I cut little slits and squirted more glue in but that just let more water in under the mat.. and it also started to break down in the sunlight.. and started cracking.
I'm sure there are many types stuff out there that you can use for cheap deck grip but I reckon get the real stuff that's made for that purpose and it will last forever.
