phew where to start so many out there these days.
If you can demo before you buy, that is the single most important piece of advice I can give you.
Without knowing the finer points of your situation would suggest:
(Boards I have actually ridden in this area)
Starboard 11'2
Naish 11.4
JL 10'6 (?) (think that is the length)
(Boards not ridden but heard good things)
PSH (Paddle Surf Hawaii)
Tropical Blends
Dale Chapman (Custom)
Laguna Bay
Good luck and have fun
Cheers

Hi lufc (Liverpool?), I would add the Coreban Rockett 10'6 to the above list. It is the board that I started to SUP on (in Dec 09), so I am a novice too. I weigh 90kgs and have found it to be great on flat water and in small waves. I have only ridden it in waves up to about 4 foot but it has been excellent.
As everyone always says - demo demo demo before you buy.
