Yeah, I have. A great board if you are a BIG bloke or looking for something super stable.

Here's my review of it: www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=cybersup&e=com

And there is some video of me on it in this clip: www.cybersup.com/videos.asp?code=45

I'm sure NewcastleSUP will provide details on availability.

Thanks Casso , from your review and comparing it to your review on the PSH 9'3 ripper.I got the feeling the PSH is as stable but offers more surfability.Im 88Kgs 6.1 so probably a little light for the sub vector. And i cant complain about PSH construction as i have banged mine around a bit and it is still pretty much unscathed so far.But im looking to downsize soon from my 10.6.

The production model Sub Vector is mainly aimed at the 'heavier' variety and those wanting to learn first up on a short high performance sup and not waste $$$ on that first learner board which is the one Casso reviewed. This model is also the only SUP surfboard nominated for this years SIMA (Surf Industry Manufacturers Association) surfboard design of the year award. Others nominated are shortboards by Rusty, Firewire, lost & Channel Islands

I weigh 65kg @ 168cm and surfed my semi custom sub vector today in 2-3ft waves and was able to throw it around quite easily. The 5-fin option is great as it allows you to play around with fin setups to suit your style of surfing.

We are producing the 9'3 Sub Vectors here in Australia now and can be semi-customized to suit the riders ability as well as choosing glass jobs etc etc so you know what you are getting not to mention pumping some $$$ back into the local industry.

PM me if you would like further info and don't forget to ask about the 'Rudds stymulas' offer on the 9'3's for the month of May.

Thanks Dogman, the single-to-double concave deck is the result of the the master designer himself, Dave Parmenter. The idea being to give the rider a lower centre of gravity to increase stability. All the new Sub Vector models being released soon will feature these decks.
This board is EPS/Epoxy, has only 1 single layer of 6oz with an 8mm stringer.
Super Light & Super Fun!

how durable is the glass coat? i am on a 9"'8"starboard and loving the durability.
would love to demo one some time- would it be stable for 90 odd kgs?

I want one.Dont know if I could use it though, maybe just hang it in the loungeroom.
Sorry for the ignorance but does the leggy string pass straight through the board and tie off in the fin box?Is the string repaceable and is this a c4 thing?
Cheers,
Camo.

Very nice.. I love that deck shape.. What's it like when you put your back foot near the rail to bottom turn?.. It must feel weird coming from dome decks.

I rode that actual board for about 1/2 hour in super challenging conditions-I'm about 78kg-so I think a little light for THIS particular board-like Simon said-you could probably take some volume out for lighter riders in a semi-custom model.

It was SUPER easy to paddle-very stable-I really liked the concave deck-worked very well-downside is that it resulted in a really full rail in the middle section of the board, so a little corky for a lighter rider-having said that, it (in the limiting conditions-20knots of cross offshore with all the bump etc.) was still loose and, probably partly due to the rail, very smooth through the wave face. Would think the board would work great for a heavy rider wanting to ride a wave orientated shorter SUB.

Simon's a super cool guy to deal with-very passionate about this evolving sport.

Just my 2 cents.

One layer of 6 oz! Jeez thats light. Your sure Simon? The PSH semi customs used to have 2 layers of six top and bottom with a 6 oz patch on the deck. I have been using 2 layers of six on the deck with a 4 oz patch and a 6 and a 4 on the bottom. Thats 3 layers of six oz raps on the rails and the boards are coming out around 8kg.

Its light Scotty but thats the whole idea of semi customs. I chose this glass job and it is holding up quite well! We have found the deckgrip to have the ideal density (1 reason why luke egan only uses this grip) to not require any further glass patches on the deck.
the latest board had 2x6 on deck & 6+4 on bottom as per the customers request.

Simon,

How did the weight of the latest custom turn out?

Is there a set price list for customs?

How 'customisable' are the C4 Subs?

The board I rode (in the photos above) was a very nice board-looked to be very well made and was being demoed around-so I suspect Simon had sufficient confidence in the durability to let it be demoed.

Fair enough Simon,
I like my boards to stay resonably undented so I see what you mean, its up to the individual.
Most production sandwich boards are at least 8.5 kg so any lighter than is pretty light and the lighter boards do feel better surfing.
What is this grip your talking about and how much is it?

I know that they are bigger than your typical Gorilla Grip tail pads because they are designed for SUP's.. not surfboards...

They are great tail pads.. The best IMO.. I tried hard to buy one for my Naish but back then the C4 guy would not answer calls or emails.

Yes dogman, tailpads are wider than your average pad and are available as individuals as well as with the normal pro-trac deckpad.

For all those who PM'd me, yes they are 100% Australian shaped, glassed and finished.

Yo tha dogman,
The creatures have a longboard/retro fish tail pad. Its wide than the surfboard pads and it can be placed spaced. Or the C4 does look sweet.

It is actually the opposite. It feels normal. When you "really" notice the difference is when you go back to a domed deck. Then the demoed deck feels horrible.

I can't surf a domed deck anymore. Even flat decks feel like too much dome. It's very weird, but true.

Not even close.

Just recently I had my friend with a 10'6 PSH AA swap boards with me and try my sub vector. He thought the sub vector was more stable than his 10'6.

I have to agree with NC Surfer on the stability thing - the Sub Vector is definitely more stable. Sorry if my reviews led you to a different conclusion.

Your conclusion of the PSH 9'3" Ripper being more surfable is aligned to my feelings though.

Danny is the ideal weight for this board, IMO. I bet he loves it.
