The reaon I asked is I thought they may have been intimidated by a canoe as silly as it sounds.

I dont think they have any right to fine you for anything.

Even if there were people in the water and you were outside the flags I cant see an issue.

If you were inside the flags they can ask you to move outside the flags but under what regulations can they impose a penalty????

As for the parking lot again I dont think a clubie has any jurisdiction there either.

I gues they could call a parking Nazi but that would be it.

Maybe thier draw strings were causing chaffing???

after paddling for over ten k's my son and I paddle into elwood beach, not sole out swimming,
howling onshore, good for downwind anyway, make the sand proud of our achievement only to be confronted by a bloke in yellow and red threatening to fine us for landing on the beach in between the two big markers 100 yards out to sea,not between the flags, fair bloody dinkum, not the first time I have been told of for using the beach, tying the boards on in the carpark, in a designated spot, was told by another clubbie that we would get a fine also for not paying the parking fee, 5 minutes and then were gone, what is it about the beach nazi's attitude, I think they are jealous of the fun suppers have when all they can do is prance around in there tiny sluggo's

Not sure about this one mate... In NSW clubbies have no jurisdiction to fine you.. unless they are an HBI (honourary beach inspector)... Council lifeguards and traffic wardens however have all the power in the world to fine you...

Maybe the markers mean something.. like no boards/craft in this area... not sure why but that could be the reason...

the clubby about the parking fee was probably just a piece of friendly advice... i know i do it (im an hbi here at dy)... if i see people that arent from around the area.. i always tell them to watch out as the traffic wardens are notorious...

Its more about PR than anything as a clubby and lifeguard... yeah they can fine you but they wont unless your a complete DH!! ive actually fined a traffic warden for parking in the wrong spot... was hilarious!!

Im sure they're not out to get you mate but just to make sure your doing the right thing and helping you to stay out of trouble...

thats my two cents anyway.. im happy to be told otherwise.
