I am using a 10.5 fcs test drive fin in my board,at 26 in wide and me [full winter coat 96kg normally around 90 summer] finding it is a little tipsy. How mouch bigger could i go and where in aus is a good place to make some enquiries.I could be premature in blaming the fin, yesterdays 40 min session was my first time out and got in a good hour today.GOT SOME GOOD PHOTOS BUT COMPUTOR IS PLAYING UP AT THE MOMENT.

Don't think it's your fin pirrad. The board is not very wide, which may have more to do with it.

just my two cents but awhile back i was trying to paddle a windsurf board that was only 24" wide (very tippy),thing was it had a fairly big fin and it occured to me
when it started to tip i could not correct it quick enough and i would fall.So i made a lot smaller plastic fin to experiment with, when fitted, though the board was still tippy it was easier to correct and i could balance for longer.I gave up in the end and bought a paddleboard but its food for thought. Why not try to balance without a fin
just for the experiment.Cheers IAN

Good to see your finally out on the water pirrad, there's been some nice calm weather the last few day's. The next week is looking like crappy Melbourne weathercold and windy. Let me know when your working and we can catch up for a session when it's looking better and you can have a go on my Naish to compare.

Cheers

Champ

P.S.- Hope you Vic's don't mind the weather joke but we even have beer advert's over here that pay it out

i'll give the no fin tip a try just out of curiosity.after my third paddle in three days and only falling off a couple of times i think there is some muscle memory and technique starting to happen ,ok ,so its going to be a bit tippsy but it will do me.love a chalenge.

Hey Champcrow..We even joke about it ourselves..There's no need to worry about saying things like 'crappy Melbourne weather' ..We live here..we know it.

But when it's good we really appreciate it..

Hey pirrad..that 10 1/2" fin sounds fine...I'm looking forward to seeing your pics..

Not at all Champrow. Better to be known for bad weather than bad serial killers.

Just to confuse the issue I padding a Windsurfer hull complete with centreboard and find the centreboard down more stable, although I rarely have it down these days as I think it is marginally faster with it up.
