Hi,

I have been surfing for 5 years but practiced sup for only 2 (mainly cruising). I am above 240 lbs (110 kgr.) weight and 6 feet height.

Now I would like to jump to surf easy waves (no choppy). Which small board would you recommend me? Does it have to have big volumen despite being small?

I would like to find a board "easy to handle", easy in waves, and that does not loose flotation/stability.

Thanks

Naish mana's are great high volume boards that also have good maneuverability. If you're already a seasoned SUPer, I'd suggest trying the 9.5. Might sound a little small but it's so stable and so much fun in the waves.

Agree with the Naish Mana. I'm 6'2 and 100kg and have ridden the 9'5 and 10' mana. They are super stable and have tons of volume. They both paddle really easy and the 31' width is awesome. They surf really well and I can even nose ride the 9'5 as an indication of how much volume they have. I normally ride a 10' coreban icon which surfs really well and I can throw around - compared to that the mana's areant as high performance but seem like they are on rails and will def give you that easy to handle, cruising feeling you are after on the waves.

Good luck with it and let us know how you go.

Hi Mikesup,
I am 115kg experienced surfer/supper and absolutely love the 10ft McTavish. Stable to paddle, great in all surf conditions and super strong. I highly recommend you demo it if you can. Typical McTavish quality shaped product. I am a bit bias as I have a McT mal as well that is a screamer. Good luck.

PS Had a go of the whopper once and it was a great board as well, haven't tried the mana yet but I am keen to have a go one day.

If you get a chance try the Starboard 10'5" x 32 Widepoint, very stable and surfy but not ginormous volume so you can actually get the rail in. Review here from AkeG in the US, he much closer to your size and weight than me. Because you have quite a bit of surfing experience IMO you don't want to go too big or you may be disappointed with the actual surfing qualities of the board once you get the hang of a SUP in the surf.

I'm in the same weight division and love surfing the PSH 10'6" WAA. It has the glide and the maneuvaribility(?) especially when finned up correctly.

I know it keeps being said.....but demo, demo, demo.

I would assume you have been surfing around Perth ?? Mellow beach breaks on average, compared to say what is on offer down around Margaret's, and up around Geralton and further north.... (?????)

But yeah, a board similar to what Revvin said should be good.

You could get a custom from laguna, dc, Anderson or another Aussie builder they all ship over west. The dc 9'6" or 10' Andersons big enough for big guys haven't had the chance to ride a laguna yet.

Try out a 9 foot coreban fusion - you might get a pleasant surprise at how floaty they are and well they surf, stable even for guys much heavier than my 88kgs - should be some second hand ones around the place.
