Hey Guys, The other day I saw Billy Riddell out at Mermaid Beach on a super small Starboard SUP, the board must be very small around the 7'0" range an low in volume as it was sinking while he was paddling the board. It was a solid 5-6 foot and as usually what he does - he was absolutely shredding, getting barrels, massive reo's - this guys appears not to be geeting any older, in fact he seems to be fitter and younger, he looks so fit and inspired!!! Does anyone know much about him these days??
I gotta say is there anything this guy can't do!!! As being an ex windsurfer myself, and living in Mermaid Beach I have seen Billy doing so many things over the last 20 years, has anybody recognised him as an all out waterman / athelete??
2 years ago shredding Burleigh point on a firewire surfboard (6-8 foot)
3 years ago I saw him in the Gold Coast marathon, running a sub 3 hour
4 years ago at Nobby's ripping on a 9'6' mal
5 years ago competing in surf ski races open ocean
12-15 years ago smashing pro's in triathlon
15 years plus ago shredding Currumbin, Cudgen in mast high plus waves on a windsurfer, the only guy out in very tricky flukey winds
looking at him now - I would say mid 40's, however he appears to be around forever, so maybe older?? Does anyone know what he does now for work etc, I heard he built a new house in Hedges Ave??
I used to compete against Billy (and DJ for that matter) windsurfing in the 80s. Torquay, Goldie , Sydney etc He,d be in his early 50s I imagine. Good to hear he's still ripping.
