Just weighed my two homemade boards , 9'6 weighed 12 kg !!!!!! no wonder it's a bit slow to turn . the 8'3 came in at 8kg . seems a lot to me , might have to put them in for " biggest loser " .

my new 8 10 was done lightweight, finned up and leggie just under 8 kg. not the best scales, weigh myself then me and the board and do the sums. i saw it being made, not much more could be done to get it lighter if you wont it last more than a month. i'm happy with the weight compared to production boards

I made a 7'6 x 30 x 40, weighed in at 7.2kg, used 1 layer of 6oz on the botton and 2 layers of 6oz on top, smaller board so weighs less. LSD has a 8'2 that weighs in at about 5kg, pretty impressive! I reckon between 7-9kg is pretty good weight for custom, like Lacey said, hard to get much lighter (excluding LSD)

Years ago, when I had delusions of shaping my own surfboards, I used to lurk around swaylocks www.swaylocks.com
they had heaps of info on how to vaccum bag.

it was something we were thinking about, but looked liked like a bit of a process.you guys are doing a bit shorter than me, would account for some of the weight. i might add my boards blank wasn't sealed' dale likes a bit of resin to soak.
