How is it like surfing in speedo's? I don't get it, admittedly I don't wear boardies over my wetty, but I DO see the practical side of doing it for sure. For the self conscious it provides some relief, for those of us who enjoy photography/cinematography they provide a whole lot of storage space. In summer we ssurf in boardies anyway, whats the biggy about chucking a wetty underneath??

So does riding a vespa naked, but man its fun!!!

my excuse is that both my winter and summer wettys are ripped to shreds and i cant afford new ones

That's acceptable !! Nobody should be exposed to "beans popping out of wetsuits!"

It's not a gay or not thing or whether it looks silly or not. It's a why thing?

Then for some reason ... I think my surfing experience will be enhanced by wearing some shorts over my wetsuit. That will be much better.

Well, I take my car key surfing with me. I hate the feel of it in my leggie key pocket and no key pocket in the wettie. So, chuck the boardies on and use the key pocket in them. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Dunno why this needed a second thread, must be a very big issue.

Anyways, move somewhere warm and give the wetty a miss. I don't think I have ever warn anything more than a 2mm long sleeve wetty top on the SUP, ahh the joys of QLD :)

Something happened in the early 2000's that made people think it was necessary to wear boardies over a wetsuit. Now lots of people of all ages do it. For the life of me I can't imagine what it was.

Were people always embarrassed to wear wetsuits because it over emphasised their nuts or skinny legs or fat bums? Really?

Were people looking at their wetsuits and thinking "I need to accessorise. Some nice board shorts will give me a look of understated elegance coupled with an edgie attitude that expresses my personality."

Its been said a few times. Wakeboarders did it. Then kiteboarders did it. And thats where the gayness should stop

I'm not a believer in the boardies over the wetsuit but I don't think it's worth talking
about. Who really cares.

I did see one prone surfer do it recently and that was the first. He was ripping too!
I was sorta suprised!
