Hi all,

I've noticed that I have a developing bubble (currently coin sized) in my factory applied deckpad. Thoughts on what to do with that? With past boards I've assumed it came from my shoddy application of aftermarket pads, and just done nothing. Want to treat this board right though.

Cheers!

Let it dry, stick a pin in it, let the air out, and press it back down.

As the above guys said, stick a pin in it, then squeeze the air out.

Do this in the sun or heat the area first with a hairdryer. Once the air is out seal the pin hole with a dab of superglue.

As the grip cools, it will contract and seal, therefore be less likely to blister again in the future.

Of course the other option is to measure the thickness of your board where the bubble is and set a drill bit to that length and carefully drill through the bottom of your board to the bubble.

Then inject epoxy resin into the bubble and then rest the board upside down on a flat surface so the bubble is compressed flat.

Then fill up the remaining drill hole with resin.

This way is much better as it avoids having to make a penetration in through your deck pad which could cause problems with water ingress later.

Nice one 'Griz'! (i always read yours as grizzlyNZ - who knew that east cape had them).

I remember long ago when I bought a Santa Cruz Surftech surfboard, the finish started bubbling everywhere within 6 months. I was offered a free t-shirt as compensation. Come to think it, don't think I ever managed to collect on that!

Totally agree.....chop it open.....stuff some glue inside.....get your cat (or parrot.....I don't know which way you pack your penis into your underwear) to sit on it for 15 minutes and problem solved with hardly a grizzle

Make sure you shave first or you may never remove the board from your arse!!!!

For the glue, use the new "MS Polymer" ones. They are very strong, stay flexible, and humidity helps their curing...
The ideal glue for pads.

I use the UHU Max Repair (one of the quickest to cure and stronger in tests), but most brands have now these kind of glue. See the list of brands at the end of: translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidorf.de%2Freintechnisch%2FInhalt%2FMSPolymerKlebstoffe&sandbox=1

:-) Don't you worry. I neglected to post my prior "so a wave snapped my sup in half" issue.
