Hi Lacey,

You can get spray on deck grip, we have used it on skateboard decks, stairs etc. I have never tried it in the water though!

It is called Monster Grip and I bought it from Bunnings about 2 years ago.

There is stuff you can buy: www.amsystem.us/surfboard_traction.html and probably that 3m stuff, which I think is a bit thin and may be abrasive.

I considered it for my board but it's expensive and not available in Australia. Another option is to get your board glassed with cloth that they pull off, which gives your board more traction than a smooth finish, I believe surfshapes use this technique on the front of his boards. Another option is sugar coated like they do on some windsurfers - but I think that will cut you up.

Anyway, after long deliberations and looking at all the options, I ended up buying a pair of o'neil split to booties and haven't looked back since, works for me and good if you surf reefs - which I mainly do.

Give the booties a go before covering your nice board. You will look like a dick - you probably are anyway - who cares!

I used a product called RIGO...........from a windsurf shop, works fine for me but I'm sure most marine supply shops should have some deck grip of some type
