this is my biggest problem as well on long distances, after molokai it was a nightmare.
But it happens sometimes even on a 1hour BOP race.
Anybody having any clue on how to address this issue would be more than welcome...

Go to this website www.saltstick.com ,I use these salt caps before and during training .
I was getting a lot of cramp swimming with fins , and at times with my toes when paddling long distances ,have found these to work .

how much is stretching a part of your training schedule? ......and I dont mean doing it cold for 15mins before some sort of training?

Stretching should be done warm and considered a work out in its own right.

I would agree with Husq the most on this.

Have a read of this article... cyclingtips.com/2011/06/nutrition-and-muscle-cramps-%e2%80%93-what-does-the-science-say/

Hi I suffer from cramps a fair bit, what I have found to help the most is at onset of cramps a high dose (4-5 tablets ) Magnesium Tablets work well for cramp, make sure you buy the good ones, fusion do a 300mg tablet I think. Or a double mix of endura max in a glass of water

To prevent cramps I use a sports hydration drink after or during exercise, dont use gatarode or power aid these are loaded with sugar.

I use an Endura powder and sometimes Endura max after a hard session or even a long day on the beach, Helps out with rehydration. Try and drink it 1:2 ratio one bottle endura two of water.

Also try increasing your potasium food intake, bananas, potatoes, rice all good sources.

If you like you can make up your own hydration mix with unrefined salt (grey looking), baking powder and cream of tatra. No sugar in it and has all the potasium, magnisum and sodium required. Endrua powder is the same just has a bit of sugar in it

Nothing That I know off, I just try and stay clear of sugar loaded drinks..

Sorry I should have wrote

"I dont use poweraid as its loaded with sugar" I try and keep refined sugar intake as low as I can and limit it to in my beer only....

Cheers
