i had the honour of being the first to surf dales new 8 10 which he made for himself and as a demo.5 waves later i marched up to dale and said you have to sell me this board. i can't go back to mine.honestly i had to keep looking down to make sure i was on a sup. i friend also said i'm looking really comfortable on that board.paid some money and giving the balance tomorrow morning.dc's also going to lend me some fins to try out as well.the board turns insane off the midrail.the biggest sup/prise was being able to drop into a surfing stance early without death wobbles to turn and catch a wave.also, this one has a glassed in handle. can,t speak highly enough about this gem.
beg, borrow, steal to get one if you like your sups on the shorter side
cheers
ps dales just going have to hid the next one so he can have a go on his own board

I know exactly where you're coming from Lacey. The last one went insane too. It didn't make the trip back to Queensland - it was very lucky to get out of Sydney.

Poor Dale just can't seem to hang onto those 8'10"s.

Take some photos and post them here - interested to see what his sprayer did and how he gripped it.

g'day, might have to get dale to take a couple of photos tomorrow. i saw this plank, its a second. color is only grey with a white tail. dale wanted to do a newie, but i said this is fine. the deck grip is a simple white one with a tail chock. works well.i'm going to fin up a bit. take a bunch to the beach.dale's talking maybe mr's with a 6 inch centre for what i want. i thinking maybe also sunny's on the sides i know your getting a 8 8,will be interesting to see what you will fin up with
cheers

I put M-5s (inside foil) on the sides and a 6" wide base fin in the centre when I rode the DC 8'10". That worked really well but I think bigger fins in the sides and either a non-wide base 6" or a FCS adaptor (to make a true thruster) in the centre would make that little beauty go even better. Sunny's all round would be great, I reckon.

yeah, dale had m-3's with a cutaway 6 inch when i give it a surf.the sunny's around idea i like.my experence with sunny's on shortboards was it was a bit to hardcore, so i used to put in a slightly smaller back fin. should be fine on the 8 10. another point is i'm going to see if we can work out an optimal position back from the front fins for a thruster setup. they have measurements for shortboards, but the sup boards are a lot wider in the tail. it would take out one extra detail to workout. then again dale will probably say you work it out.

just had a surf with dale so he could surf my 8 10. he hadn,t been on one.dale took to the lefts on offer(goofy footer). boy the board looks good on a wave. i was worried because i had mr's and a 7 inch in.he said he was too far forward on the 1 st wave, but really liked the fin setup and he really likes the board.at a distance, it just looks like a normal thruster shortboard. i was going to customize the board but we decided this is a cracker, so why bother. i think dales going to shape and glass one side of a blank today - for himself. just one other thing if you are thinking of getting one, go with the lightweight glassing to really get that feel.i was on dale dc 9 and the difference is noticeable. it might not last as long, but its worth it
cheers
