I have an older surf tech 11ft laird surfer. It seems a mission to carry after a surf. Is 12.5 kgs to heavy for a board like this.
tried to get the stats on a new one but it doesn't look like they make an 11ft model now.

I got a 11.6 that weighs 11.3 kgs if that make you feel better ...

that weight is heavy for a 11' .....it's probably a tuff mother .

Nah mate, not too heavy. And heavy can be a good thing... More glass and denser foam.

Typically after a surf, the grip will soak up water and add extra weight making it heavier... that and your arms are soar from a good paddle .

Just make sure she's water tight!

Agreed - extra weight (especially for a longboard SUP) isn't necessarily a bad thing...within reason. My 9'6 Style weighs quite a bit more vs my 9'1 custom (granted, it's a higher volume board) so I find it harder to get speed up paddling for a wave but once I'm on the wave, it keeps its momentum a lot better & it requires way less paddle strokes...especially linking to inside sections. Possibly the different design (flatter rocker profile of the Style) is a bigger variable vs the weight? As mentioned, as long as your board remains a constant weight (I weigh mine 'dry' approx every 6 months) then all's good

Broadman, i have 10 6 in same construction.

All of the above is true in the water-but it is a pain to carry down the beach etc. it's okay when you park close to the water. I am keeeping it but getting another long board style for that reason

The longer the surf and further the walk the heavier they get

My 10'er is just under 10kg and I asked for a lite board.

No worry... got the 10' laird built around 7 years old which feel too heavy in my opinion and after reading these last posts, I feel it lighter now
