yes its happening monday and im a bit concerned i will go crazy not being able to surf. any advice on what to do while recouperating.
Hi mate, mine is booked for next Thursday.
I'm being told 8 weeks out of the water but I'm going to aim for 4 weeks out then 4 weeks flat water with my ear covered to ensure no wind and / or water and hopefully back into it after 8 weeks without losing too much condition after maintaining the 4 weeks flat water paddling.
Hearing some good stories and some horror stories and not sure what's fact and what's fiction but I'm 98% closed in my right ear and it's been a drama with infection so time to get it drilled.
My biggest issue at this stage is NIB who are sitting on the fence regarding part payment - not happy about their lack of support.
Be sure to look after it in the long term, the bone grows back and can do quickly and remember it's the wind which is your enemy and not water so protect the ear canal from cold air (particularly early morning dawn sessions).
I wear a GATH helmet every session flat water and waves now to save my 70% closed left ear from getting worse.
Good luck mate.
