Nice idea to put it on only one side, to avoid rash on your knuckles, will try it too for my trips to Hossegor where you have to walk a lot on the dunes...

Thanks grip is actually on the Palm side just allows me to wrap fingers around it like it's recessed but would work other way too.

Whenever I grip my boards I always run straight over recessed handle then cut one side with knife and fold grip into handle on side that I carry. It takes a lot of strain off fingers allowing a little cupping of fingers.

A continuous strip of neoprene glued along the side, works well also, and if you keep the width of the strip short of hitting the bottom, then your fingers have a bit of a ledge to make the grip easier/stronger.
You can even double up the layers by the top of the well to make the grip even better still, something that your fingers can wrap around.
Got really fat fingers? Sorry, you're on your own.

Any thing that you'd use on deck pads, contact cement or epoxy work best.
