The Garmin 305 and 407 (might be mucking the numbers up a bit) are pretty popular with some of the guys in the office that are big into Ocean Ski's / Running / Biking

I don't know what these are but it seem like it's these that they use in Hawaii.

This Garmin Forerunner 405 is the pick at around $365 but the older model 305 is bigger and does pretty much the same and you can pick them pretty cheap on ebay. That's the one in DJ's pic.

I've been looking around for a good GPS device as well & after recommendations by Downwinder (see his post in this link:www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=64859&SearchTerms=310xt )

Great vid looked like bulk fun out there. Sad about all that rubber though. Get your hands on the Garmin 310XT it will calculate your speed. As it a real buzz catching & surfing runners at 30 km/h

I'm looking to get the Garmin 310XT, it has a heart rate monitor as well if you're into that with your training.

Yep both have wireless heart rate monitors and they wirelessly download all your info onto your computer, the 305 is around $285 new but plenty on ebay second hand for less.

i have a forerunner 310 xt...use it for SUPing and mountain biking. Only faults i can add is the heat rate and gps dont work when swimming and the GPS heights shows negitive some times. Not sure what the other maufacturers do but the garmin dashboard software is great connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/24715216

Good Morning Scotty100
If I was you go the Garmin 310XT
I have the Garmin 305 I love this watch when ever I go for a Downwind Paddle + when I do the 10 x 1000's in the canal it tells you everything you'll need to know. But you may need a year 12 education to work it out as it has that much information.
onr word the Garmin 305 or 310XT are ALL TIME when it comes to your training needs.
