Snapped my DC 16 footer after a downwind run up the Tweed Coast this morning. Tried to get in through the beachbreak, got caught by a set. You know the rest of the story. Had to find a mate to help me get both pieces off the beach.

Two words - heart. broken.

I'm sure it can be put back together.. Not sure about the board tho..

Really I'm sure it will be fixable but it will end up heavier.. ... Bugger!!!

Pics please.

Will do my best re pix DJ. Just didn't have it in me to take any this morning, couldn't even bear to look at my busted baby. The set that caught me also tore the mouthpiece out of my camelbak, so that’s ruined as well. Took me 20 mins to get all the wreckage into the beach and then had to go find a mate to help me carry the pieces home. Gunna go have a little cry now.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. Boylos, the surf wasn't big, the wave that got me was only 4-5ft, the problem was that the bottom fell out of it as I was scuttling across the bank through the impact zone. Thought I had the timing right, but just turned out to be wrong spot wrong time. And Rollo, I know how much you cared for her too - sorry I did that to your old girl. On the bright side though, tomorrow will be another good day for someone else to do the Tweed Coast downwind run - forecast is 20knot southeasterlies and there's plenty of push in that southerly swell, so hook into it. Just don't come in via a beachie.

Sorry to hear about your board, I also did a run today Hastings to Casuarina, and even though I was super careful coming back in I stuffed it up big time and my board was washed in without me. I thought for sure the rudder was going to be ripped out but luckily all was good. What section did you paddle?

First Michael Jackson, now this. Please God, make it stop......

Off to Dale's now to see if he can work his magic and revive her.

Clarky, I paddled Hastings-Casuarina too. Cas was where I got caught. Sounds like you were lucky to avoid some snappage of your own. Dale just told me on the phone we shouldn't be anywhere near surf like that on the 16 footers, so from now on it's Hastings-Kingy for me. Any other sections on the Tweed that you like to paddle that have some protection getting in and out?
