go now. ese winds best bet snapper, go out a bit, look at the swell and wind and line your self up for the alley.

let some one know you've gone and take a phone in case you can't make the distance.

it's not as easy as it might sound.

paddle for the troughs in front. don't look behind like you do when you surf
cheers

yep that was me last night..SPEWING! i got down to cooly there was still wind but after 5mins paddling back to the alley the wind dropped !!! so i had a nice cruisey 10km paddle but i stayed close to the sand & when a bigger set was looming i'd get a wave ...was a bit of fun,but after riding 14ft dw'er i cant wait til there's some decent wind & get some good runs in!!

My advice would be to do your first few with someone relatively experienced. There are heaps of people on the GC who you can call on, like Lacey for example. We have a clean safety record on the GC and we want to keep it that way. There is a lot that can go wrong out there and it is worth while taking a few precautions.

Also, I wouldn't recommend catching waves on a DW board, especially not a borrowed one. It doesn't take much for a wave to break a DW board.
