howdy all, just did the first lamination on my homemade paddleboard,so far so good.No out gassing problems or little bubbles yet.Using a rubber sqeegee to wet the glass is interesting to say the least, and getting used to fast setting epoxy a real treat.Cant wait to get this thing in the water, though the more i look at it, the smaller it looks and the more doubts i have about weather its going to have the volume to float me.anyhow a couple more fine days and i should find out

hi dj,the board started out at 10'10"but the electric planer is so much fun it now measures 2 inches shorter.width started at 31" but reads 29ish,thickness 4".hopefully some pics will follow, dont laugh when you see them, its a true backyard job(sorry Kath)with no plans and no idea about fibreglass/foam etc but blind enthusiasm always triumphs over knowledge(i think).

Are you going to name your board when it's done?

Sweden called his home made board Perl.

The journey is the fun part. I always tell myself that the next one WILL be better.

To board bumps

Hey Rod I think I saw one of your boards at the Currumbin Alley on the weekend Not sure but it sure looked like one of yours .it was a deep red color and the deck grip had a target on it and it also had two blue decals on the front of the deck It looked quiet short. sound familiar or am I mistaken .

Hilton from Base surfboards has the 9'0 red and could not keep his hands off the white 8'6 so he has both of em.
Hilton might have customised the deck grip and chucked on a couple of logos. He lives near the Alley and sups Burleigh as well.

He was telling me that Luke Egan is paddling an 8'0. As a design exercise I have drawn up an 8'0 in AKU at round 140 ltrs, I'll post it tonight. I had a nice medium surf this morning and now have to hang out the washing and get to work, the misus is on a weeks R&R

That board luke egan is using sounds Interesting, would love to see some of your designs of short boards for solid people, Luke egan would be at least 95 kg I reckon Rod. Spent a few hours In the surf today on the 9 6" the thing rips on waves but still a bit of a pig to paddle when you get tired or the wind gets up, I have times were I wont fall off at all in windy choppy stuff, to falling off when turning or something when I get tired. Caught some long waves today and did a few reos on the 9 6" something the kalama wasnt that good at
