BS!!! kites have 25m of line and power up in the wind. My surf sup is 9 1 which is shorter than most of the mals I surf with.

It is the pilot not the craft heaps of kooks on mals and shortboards

I kite and know the dangers sup does not even rate.

I would like kites banned from the city to trigg dw run as they always almost take me out with their lines. Clubbies on skis have the same issue with them they are keen to ban the kites from that stretch too.

Stand up paddle boards are just another surf craft. If you don't like it maybe you could put your dummy back in and take yourself elsewhere, you might like to ease up on the punching people talk as well, 9 year olds should be encouraged to share, even in the water.
Do have a nice day

Take your son to a beginners spot to learn at. Shame on you for encouraging him to be a tough kid. Remember there will always be some tougher out there.

I was mowed down by a Mal rider last year, requiring 6 stitches on the back of my head.

As far as I'm concerned – despite his zig-zagging towards me leaving me not knowing which way to go – it was my fault for not getting out of his way fast enough.

Maybe Josh should learn to paddle faster!

I think Spot1 was referring to this
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/SUP/Stand-Up-Kiting-There-has-to-be-a-better-acronym/
No leg rope on the SUP and no depower in the kite
Coming to a crowded metro beach near you soon!

Yeah but Hilly-you don't get (well not as the norm) clueless inexperienced kiters zooming about in a crowded line-up-you do get that with SUPs.

Mettams?

City to Trig DW sup it most arvos with the skis; hundreds of kites zip in and out of the swimmers, surfers, fishermen, etc along the whole stretch. The kiters love to get real close and do look at me jumps. One crashed the other day and nearly decapitated me the lines, fun.

Loved this on the general forum Doggie

You guys need to shut that down-we don't tolerate that where we kite-granted it's a pretty local small crew-but we always let any offenders (which are almost invariably overseas travellers or learners) what's on and what's not.
