check out the local free paper (clarence review) while you are in the valley and you will see why dogman is so happy, how do I get a job teaching private school girls to surf[?], nice work if you can get it.

thats my home town, well yamba not iluka
lots of good paddlesurf spots around if you go looking, i aint naming them but, watch out for the few grumpy fellas around, they hate paddleboarding, reckon me doing it is creating a precedence, so they have discouraged me from certain locations, plenty more spots though, i sure am not complaining, ive been on Kauai for threee weeks scoring perfection, i think today is the first day under four feet since i have been here, heaps of paddleboarders as well, everyone having a good time, thats what its about, paddleboarding heaven

Hey Teatree
Stayed at Yamba in September and lucked into a swell. Surfed a wave well down towards the coast guard station on the inside of the wall on the Iluka side and it was in freakin sane! Peaked and heaved about 10 metres in front of the rock wall and churned right into that little beach there, or ran left down the inside of the wall. The right was actually a tad heavy for a Stand Up and looked more like the sort of wave some nut case on a boogie board would tackle. Bizzare the way the swells would travel down the river, bounce off the Yamba side and then focus on this one spot. Surfed for a couple of hours shoulder to head high and apart from some curious fishos didnt see another punter. Needless to say the paddle to and from Yamba was scetchy.

Hear what you are saying Firstpoint. Wouldnt have dreamed of taking the SUP out to Angas. The beauty of that area is that there are so many places that you can paddle off to and be pretty much out of everyones hair and still score some classic waves.

yep,i totally agree,if we are going to get along with the locals anywhere i think we have to give them something and there are waves that are sacred to these guys, maybe it will turn around in time.

Ditto for Lennox point, too many other options close by to have to ride SUP on a wave like that. Angourie has a too small take off spot. Just not a place where SUP and shortboard can mix together.

These are still places that you can get a good flogging in the car park or the water and thank god for that. Fear of reprisal in these days is the only thing keeping some places sane.

The back beach at angourie is a beauty and you can paddle several Ks picking off the waves as you go.
I have also caught waves inside the Clarance on my DC16 riding at the far end of Whiting beach from right in the middle near the dividing breakwater.
I was hassled pretty strongly at Spooky beach before I even caught a wave. Just left the break and the fella with the bad attitude behind, some people dont know how to be happy, bad luck for them

haha

some of the locals up that way have a pretty closed off thought of sup "that if you let one come then they all will invade" but who knows

hell might just freeze over and some opinions may change

plenty of out of the way spots that are sh1t hot rather than to be bugging the silver backed males out at "angers" opppphhhss angas

as said before "the take off" is very tight and everyone is sitting on each others lap waiting for a wave to drop in on each other on

unless your couscous........lol........haha.... and you just sneek back into town on the rare occassion and sly out for a quick paddle then get the f@ck outta town before the linch mob with white hoods and pitch forks come knocking on the front door

heard a few stories from lots of different crew that i see at yamba about it "not happy jan"......lol.........my reply is who cares what he was riding and i bet he was having more fun than all the crew in the water put together......lol.......good on ya kizzzzzza

the waves inside the river around whiting beach can be sooo much fun on a big board when its on

hey dogman, good to meet you down there, after we saw you last we got a sick surf at the camp ground one morning and another really weird but totally fun wave at that spot you mentioned where the outgoing tides rips out, was almost like a standing wave of sorts - really fun for it's size and completely different to anything we'd supped before.

overall was a good trip and stoked to get some uncrowded waves in such a sweet location.

will cya round mate.

nice work taterchip

yer that little wave can get a bit wierd at times but still fun as you can pull off at the end of the wave and let the water drag you back to the take off point without even having to paddle at all

rock on
