thats just a flow rider, but set up as a barrel. They have one of these in Singapore right next to a second Flow Rider that looks more like the ones that are at the theme parks here.

CONSTRUCTION of the world's first continuous wave pool is a step closer, with AECOM and Cox Rayner appointed to spearhead the Maddison Estate Surf Precinct at Pimpama, which is predicted to bring to be a major drawcard for the Gold Coast.
LM Investment Management (LM) engaged AECOM to undertake a domestic and international tourism and feasibility study while Cox Rayner is lead architect for the precinct.
The Gold Coast-based international fund manager holds an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding with the Kelly Slater Wave Company for its prototype wave park, which will be the centrepiece of the surf precinct.
AECOM associate director planning Dylan Porter says the wave park will enhance the global tourism appeal of the Gold Coast.
“This comes at a time when there is really a ground swell for change on the Gold Coast, promoted by state and local government,” he says.
“We will be working to ensure that a robust market and feasibility analysis is undertaken to support the project, and that it is benchmarked against international standards in terms of quality tourist experiences.
“The Kelly Slater Wave Company brand will further reinforce the Gold Coast's position as a leading tourism destination on the world stage.”
The $1 billion Maddison Estate is located in the northern Gold Coast growth corridor and anchors the LM Managed Performance Fund.
On completion, it will be home to more than 4500 residents.
LM chief executive Peter Drake (pictured) says the appointment of AECOM and Cox Rayner adds to Maddison Estate's “best of the best” team in their respective fields.
“With AECOM, we can accurately assess the benefits this project of state significance will have on tourism and, with Cox Rayner, we will deliver a world-class tourist destination to draw surfers, property owners and holiday makers from around the globe,” he says.
“We are situated only a stone's throw from Australia's best theme parks. Now we are one step closer to delivering a surf destination with the stamp of approval from Kelly Slater, the world's best surfer.”
Cox Rayner is also designing the 2018 Commonwealth Games Aquatic Centre. AECOM is a Fortune 500 company with clients in more than 130 countries.

it will be a real shame if the first real wave pool is built in Oz around a foregin company when the same technology is alreay here and seems somewhat the foundation for the other. Yes good for surfers, but all the time GW and the Uni at Tassy have put into it a shame. I hope they get backers
