Hi
It seems that Starboard as an adjustable paddle in the 2010 range that might suit the kids(mine have the same ages and I'm studying the topic)
Check out their website, in the field paddles/overview, they have the Adjustable Paddle Option, carbon grip and shaft, might be light for the small arms

There are some pretty cheap adjustable paddles out there now and they are a good option.

There are also good adjust ables like the Kialoa and Werner but they're not cheap.

I would go down to your local kayak/canoe shop and they should be able to sell you the alloy tube.. the plastic blade and T grip.. and it should only cost about $50.
