Looking at getting a new stick , around the 9,3 to 9,8 mark.Looking at afew boards i have noticed some have pretty extreme rocker and some have relatively low rocker , i do like the PSH boards caus thats what i have now , i have noticed they have low rocker is this because thay are designed more for the bigger Hawaiin swells are boards with more rocker best for our conditions.

Also what makes a board fast , cheers.

Mate try a few out on the SUPSA day there should be heaps there. Other wise pop in and take the boards out for a demo we have Naish, LSD,PSH, and JL and they all differ in some way. From what i can see there is now a board for everyone weather flat or full rocker boards.

New boards due out next year from PSH sound awesome might be worth the wait.

Flatter rocker is for easier paddling and glide as well. I know the flatter rocker in the 12er helps it bigger stuff, my 10 footer with significantly more rocker feels uncomfortable above double overhead.

If you want more nose rocker the 9 9 JL Mano floated 105kg well, the 9 4 or 9 0 would be great for lighter guys. Very loose board. Coreban is an option as well as are the new Naish boards heaps out there.

thanks fellas im just looking for a board thats right for the conditions we usually get , my board the 10,6 pSH goes great in the bigger stuff but is average in the 2 to 3 ft range which is mostly what we get. When i say average its probably me thats average , but i want a board that will let me progress and allow me more flexability in smaller waves.

Cheers

I'm a fan of the low rocker because I rider shorter boards (sub 9's) it's gives them better paddle speed and if they Pearl you're not gone the flatter plane shape lets the nose resurface , the more you hook the nose up it pushes more water and once that turned up nose goes under you're toast.

I know I'm going to sound way out of line on this forum, but I can't contain myself. I've had so much fun on my last few outings surfing the 14' naish on the glassy micro waves that I'm going to make the outrageous suggestion that you go longer and narrower rather than shorter and wider.

flatter will go faster, but if you like to be around the pocket, more rocker is better. a good surfer can still carve him/ her self speed.
